Livija Kroflin

Izv. prof. dr. sc. Livija Kroflin was born in Zagreb, where she graduated in comparative literature and English at the Faculty of Philosophy in 1980, then received her master’s degree in “Puppetry in Zagreb from 1945 to 1985” and her doctorate in “International Puppet Theater Festival PIF 1968 – 2007 in the context of European puppetry ”.

As a literary translator she had the status of a freelance artist (1983), she worked as an editor at the Globus Publishing House (1983-1987) and at the International Center for Cultural Services in Zagreb (1987-2007), first as an artistic director. PIF, and then for nine years and as the director of the Center. Since 2007, she has been employed at the Department of Theater Arts of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, where she is the head of the puppetry program and teaches courses in the history and aesthetics of puppetry. From 2015 to 2017, she was the head of the Department of Theater Arts.

She is the selector of the play for PIF and the initiator and editor-in-chief of the libraries “Lutkanija” and “Velika Lutkanija”. She has published the books Zagrebačka zemlja Lutkanija (Zagreb, 1992) and Aesthetics of PIF (Zagreb, 2012) and a number of articles on puppetry, which she has published in the country and abroad. He regularly participates in international professional conferences on puppetry.

She is a member of the International Executive Board of UNIMA, President of the International UNIMA Commission “Puppet in Education, Development and Therapy”, the Croatian ITI Center, the Society of Croatian Literary Translators and the Croatian Society of Theater Critics and Theatrologists.
